Power Quality Products Application EngineerCore Working Hours: 8:00 AM-5:48 PM
This position is for an individual with extensive experience with power quality produtcs, particularly those associated specifically with voltage sags, voltage swells, power outages, voltage flickers, reactive power support and wind generation. Excellent analytical skills, a strong technical background and a proactive, tenacious, creative approach to solving problems are required. Ability to effectively interface with customers is also a requirement. Candidate should also have experience with PC-based software including spreadsheets and word processing software. Good verbal skills, writing skills, presentation skills, and customer interaction skills is expected. Approximately 50-60% travel is required. While not travelling the employee will be based on São José dos Pinhais at the S&C Brasil facility or will work on a home-office based in the cities of São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte or Brasília.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
§ Review and application of Power Quality Products on wide variety of utility and industry systems.
§ Interact with Power Quality specialists from the headquarters in Chicago/USA to be able to provide the best solutions for Power Quality problems presented by the customers.
§ Presentation of Power Quality Products to customers.
§ Prepare commercial and technical quotations of Power Quality Products.
§ Assisting in conducting customer-training sessions and training of S&C personnel.
§ Provide the primary technical support to customers for Power Quality Products, including gathering the information from the equipment and interaction with the headquarter engineers/technicians for troubleshooting.
§ Ability to effectively manage a wide range of power quality project implementations. Includes development of project scopes and schedules with customers in the power users markets for the Power Quality Products installation, start-up and commissioning.
§ Preparing and negotiating customer and subcontractor contracts in case the solution includes civil and electrical installations of the Power Quality products.
§ Support the engineers and technicians of the headquarters in Chicago/USA during field start-up and commissioning of Power Quality products.
§ Recognizing and adhering to standard industry safety practices and S&C safety procedures.
§ Assuring compliance with quality control procedures.
§ Developing and maintaining good customer relationships.
§ Regular travel to customer sites in Brasil and Latin America.
Required skills and qualifications:
§ Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited college, university, technical school, applicable military training, or equivalent.
§ Ability to analyze electrical power systems and apply power quality technology to meet customer requirements.
§ Familiarity with power users power systems.
§ General knowledge of the main industry critical processes such as those commonly found on semiconductor plants, pharmaceutical plants, plastics/injection molding facilities, printing/papermaking, glass making and principally in data centers.
§ Detailed understanding of utility systems and its connection with the power user substation.
§ Proficiency in using computerized test equipment, power quality meters and system analysis tools.
§ Understanding of oscillography results.
§ Minimum of 5 years of experience on power quality products and solutions.
§ Possess working knowledge of safety practices and electrical codes .
§ Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software: Word, Excel, Outlook
§ Proficiency in English is necessary and in Spanish is very desirable
